Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce. Our Board represents a cross section of business and community leadership. As a member of the Board, a director acts in a position of trust for the business community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization. Serving on our board is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for professional growth. Completing this form will help you understand the skills and time/resource commitments of this leadership position.

This application will be kept confidential and on file at the Chamber office. Applications are used by the Chamber’s Executive Board Committee to identify and evaluate potential board candidates. All new directors are elected by a majority vote by current chamber board members.

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves a minimum of one (1) three-year term on the Board. Eligible to serve two (2) additional three-year terms if re-elected.
2. Attends board meetings and important related meetings on a regular basis. The full board of directors meets the 2^nd Thursday of every month at 7am at the Greater Brownsburg Chamber Of Commerce Office.  Meetings last 1-1.5 hrs.
3. Makes a serious commitment to participate actively in Chamber committee work.
4. Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.
5. Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
6. Builds a working relationship with other committee members that contributes to consensus.
7. Participates in the annual evaluation and planning efforts.
8. Participates in fundraising and member recruitment for the organization
9. Understands the importance of public opinion and promotes the value of Chamber membership.
10. Understands they represent all members of the Chamber and not just the business of which he/she is affiliated.

DESIRED SKILLS

Selected candidates are chosen based on career experience, company position and overall skill sets. Applicants from all industries will be considered. Candidates bring expertise, experience and resources to the Chamber’s Board including the ability to leverage people and/or financial resources from member’s own company and contacts suitable to expand the Chamber’s reach through executive management in other companies.
